Your CTP Green slip is one of the most important decisions you will have to make. Like everyone, you will want great coverage at the best possible rate. Those two factors are not always mutually inclusive but, with careful research they can be found. Price alone should not be your only deciding factor. If you are involved in a car accident and you have very cheap insurance you may wind up spending more money on non covered repairs then you would have if you had just spent a bit more on your policy. It is a difficult balance to master, having just the right amount of coverage at the right price.

Tips for finding cheap CTP Green slips

  • There are several providers to choose from you should contact each about their particular rates. Note that they do not all have all have websites, but they can all be reached by telephone and some even have storefronts that you can visit.
  • You must take time to compare prices as the cost of a CTP Green slip can vary widely.
  • Prices can be compared by contacting each insurer individually. You may also go to the Motor Vehicle Authority’s website and use their Green Slip Calculator. This calculator provides you with contact information for the insurers and coverage comparison costs for typical vehicles.
  • Greenslips are all similar, no matter who the insurer is, except in their coverage of the at fault driver. At fault driver coverage is an extra feature that is only covered under some insurers policies.
  • Both registration and green slip renewals are available in twelve or six month increments for most vehicles.
  • Your chosen insurance provider will notify the RTA electronically when you purchase a green slip. This notification can take up to one hour to complete.

CTP Greenslip Providers

There several criteria the insurance company will consider when deciding the cost of your green slip.

  • Accident history – If you have a clear accident history or no recent accidents your insurance premium will be cheaper.
  • Age of vehicle drivers - Drivers under the age of 24 incur a higher premium rate then older drivers.
  • Age of the vehicle to be covered - An older vehicle costs less to insure then a newer vehicle because its value is less.
  • Kind of vehicle - Similar to the age question, the type of vehicle is also a price indicator. More expensive vehicles cost more to cover then less expensive vehicles.
  • Whether you have comprehensive or third party property insurance - Comprehensive insurance will garner a more expensive rate, but it will cover more then simple third party property insurance.
  • If the vehicle is for personal or business purposes - Personal vehicles are covered at a lower rate then business vehicles.
  • Whether it is a new green slip or a renewal - Your insurance provider will reward usually reward you for loyalty when you renew by giving you a discount on your premium.
